FARNSWOOD RESIDENCE

In order to transform this 1960s ranch house into a contemporary family home, we had to gut it down to the studs and completely remove the old kitchen.  This allowed us to reorganize the main level around the skylit, vaulted living space.  The double-height entry space connects you to the master suite upstairs.  The new volume is spanned by a low-pitched gable that maintains the ranch-style character of the existing house and neighborhood, while the lower gable flips up in back to protect a new shaded patio.
