CYPRESS LAKE HOUSE

This project is essentially a conversion of a vacation lake house to a permanent residence. The amenities and space design that had previously been centered around periodic usage for primarily recreational visits needed to be customized to make them suitable for long term use.  

 

The previously cramped kitchen was expanded to make room for more regular home-prepared meals, additional pantry storage, and more built-in seating space. A large island anchors the space, creating a hub for activity. Reclaimed wood planks and wrought iron fittings provide hill country character while maintaining a contemporary simplicity. The space now engages with the living area and thanks to a new set of floor-to-ceiling windows, has visual access to the grounds and the lake beyond. 

 

The humble boat house was transformed from a simple outdoor deck to a glass-wrapped private office. It allows one to walk to work within the serene, shaded lakeside and watch the sun set to end the day.  

 

A new hot tub deck and fire pit round out the amenities to provide all the comforts of home for the full-time residents. All of this is woven in among and shaded by immense cypress trees that truly define the character of this place.
