WOODLAKE ESTATES EVENT CENTER

Comprised of over 5,000 square feet of conditioned space and almost another 4,000 square feet of covered outdoor porch space, this amenities center will host a variety of community events in the main hall.  It also provides a 24/7 exercise room and facilities to support the adjacent splashpad and swimming pool.

 

The form of the building takes its inspiration from the traditional Texas ranch with its steeper pitched central space for volume and loft and its shallower pitched deep wraparound porch for shade and airflow.  Inside, the main volume is spanned by scissor trusses that allow a completely clean, open, flexible floor layout, whether hosting a picnic, bingo night, or graduation party.  The space is warmed by a large stone fireplace on one side, cooled by two big ass fans, and opens up on temperate days to the porch and the splashpad by means of two large glass overhead garage doors. All this flexible event space is supported by a catering kitchen with plenty of storage and prep space for large events.

 

The building’s simple, traditional form is complimented by native limestone accents, while simultaneously using a sharp smooth stucco finish to keep the lines contemporary. The overall effect is of a familiar and climate-responsive form brought up to date to serve as a venue for today’s community.
