ANNIES RESTAURANT*
Restaurant
Austin, Texas
Completed in 2009
* work performed while employed with Dick Clark Architecture
The owners of Annies Restaurant sought a clean, refined, and modest intervention to the original 19th century masonry warehouse building that established their new space on Austin’s historic Congress Avenue. The weathered brick is exposed on the walls throughout the main dining area as a record of the space’s past. Fabric wrapped acoustical panels are suspended from the ceiling and illuminated from above to create a rhythm of texture and light, unifying the dining room and ensuring a comfortable softness for the patrons. From raw steel countertops to the handcrafted patinaed zinc bar, tactile and evocative materials are selected to bring a sense of authenticity that compliments the fresh, organic gourmet served there.
