SEAHOLM RESIDENCE

The Seaholm Residences is a 30-story residential tower by STG Design anchoring the new arts district in downtown Austin.  This penthouse unit began by consolidating 6 of the base building apartments, literally raised the roof of the entire building by 3 feet, and started with a 4,600 square foot blank slate to redefine luxury living in this ever-evolving city.

 

The design team for the finish-out was enlisted before the building was even out of the ground, allowing for complete integration of the customized floor plan with all building infrastructure using computer modeling and intensive collaboration with the base building architect, engineers, and contractors.  The result is a series of uncompromising spaces, carefully choreographed to provide an engaging experience for the residents as well as guests from the moment they step off the elevator.

 

A custom entry alcove that reinterprets the base building material palette greets visitors on arrival, giving entry to a crisply paneled foyer.  The soft, matte wood flooring draws them in to a monumental entertaining space, with the living room, dining room, kitchen, and a full bar all open to each other as well as a continuous floor-to-ceiling view of downtown Austin and the eastern horizon beyond.  The scale of this space is modulated by recessed, illuminated ceiling coves and bracketed at both ends by honed marble slab walls set in a random relief pattern.

 

The master suite provides a serene retreat, complete with custom millwork throughout the closet, a private balcony, and a spacious bath with heated stone floor.  The unit also features a well-appointed study, two additional guest suites, and a media room with fully integrated sound.  The entire space has been acoustically isolated from its surroundings, providing a real oasis of calm, quiet luxury in the midst of this dynamic city.
