Private Residence - addition and remodel
completed in 2005
This mid-century modern bungalow was expanded from 1100 square feet to over 1700 with a new living room and kids play area addition integrated seamlessly into the original 1950s architecture of the house. A full wall of glass, well-shaded from direct sun opened the space up to the yard and provided ample day-lighting year-round. The gently sloping roof plane extends out over a generous patio, projecting the space into the yard and enhancing the connection to the outdoors. Durable and sleek floors of ground and stained concrete run throughout, providing a cool and low-maintenance surface that ties the spaces together. Dedicated kid-space creates a vibrant area to contain clutter and give room for creative play. Additional enhancements such as the custom built stone gabion front patio enclosure allow for outdoor living and a sense of privacy from the street. Bathrooms are cleaned up and maximized with simple lines.
